Ratings allow Fussy Vegan users to see what other users think about eligible vegan products and restaurants.
Instead of providing only one general score, ratings are divided into three categories. This gives users a clearer understanding of the different aspects of a product or restaurant.
For products, the categories are:
- Taste
- Quality
- Value
For restaurants, the categories are:
- Food
- Service
- Value
The overall rating is calculated from the three category scores submitted by users.
Who can view ratings?
All users can view available ratings. You do not need a VIP Access subscription to see:
- The overall rating
- The three category scores
- The number of submitted ratings
If nobody has rated the product or restaurant yet, the app will display “No ratings yet.”
Who can submit ratings?
Submitting ratings is a VIP Access feature.
You must have an active VIP Access subscription to rate an eligible product or restaurant. If you do not have an active subscription, tapping the rating button will display the VIP Access subscription page.
How do I rate a product?
Open an eligible vegan product and scroll to the Product Ratings section.
Tap “Submit Rating,” then select a score from one to five stars for each of the following:
- Taste
- Quality
- Value
After selecting all three scores, tap the submission button to save your rating.
Your overall rating is automatically calculated from the three scores you selected.
How do I rate a restaurant?
Open an eligible restaurant and find the Restaurant Ratings section.
Tap “Submit Rating,” then select a score from one to five stars for:
- Food
- Service
- Value
After selecting all three scores, submit your rating. Your overall rating is calculated automatically.
Which products can be rated?
The Product Ratings section is displayed only for products identified as vegan.
Ratings are not displayed for products identified as non-vegan. This keeps the feature focused on helping users compare suitable vegan products.
Which restaurants can be rated?
Restaurant Ratings are available for restaurants that provide vegan options.
The Ratings section is not displayed for restaurants recorded as having no vegan options. This prevents users from rating a restaurant through Fussy Vegan when it does not currently offer suitable vegan choices.
Can recipes be rated?
No. Recipes are not currently included in the Ratings feature.
The current system supports eligible vegan products and restaurants only.
How is the overall rating calculated?
Each user provides three category scores. The app calculates an overall score from those three ratings.
The displayed overall rating is then based on the ratings submitted by eligible users. The category scores show the average rating for each individual category.
For example, a product may receive a high Taste score but a lower Value score. Displaying the categories separately makes this difference easier to understand.
What does the number of ratings mean?
The number shown beside the overall score tells you how many ratings have been submitted for that product or restaurant.
A score based on many ratings may provide a more representative indication of user opinion than a score based on only one or two ratings.
Why has a rating changed?
Ratings are averages and may change when additional users submit their scores.
As more ratings are added, the overall rating and individual category scores are recalculated to include the latest submissions.
Are ratings the same as the vegan status?
No. Ratings and vegan status are separate features.
A product or restaurant’s vegan status is based on the information held by Fussy Vegan. Ratings reflect users’ opinions about characteristics such as taste, quality, food, service and value.
A high or low rating does not change whether a product or restaurant is identified as vegan or as offering vegan options.
Can I submit a rating while using Offline Mode?
No. Submitting a rating requires an internet connection.
Ratings are live information and are not included in the downloaded Offline Mode catalogue. When viewing downloaded information offline, the Ratings section may be hidden or unavailable.
Reconnect to the internet to view the latest ratings or submit your own rating.
What should I consider when submitting a rating?
Please rate only products you have tried or restaurants you have visited.
Your score should reflect your genuine experience with each category. For example, when rating a product, consider Taste, Quality and Value separately rather than giving every category the same score automatically.
For restaurants, consider the food itself, the service you received and whether the experience represented good value.
Thoughtful and accurate ratings make the feature more useful for everyone.
